| This manual makes recommendations on a standardized approach for case management of cutaneous leishmaniasis across the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. It was conceived as a practical guide for health workers dealing with the complexities of diagnosing and treating cutaneous leishmaniasis. The manual provides a step-wise decision algorithm for the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis taking into consideration the Leishmania strains present in the Region. Annexes include detailed standard operating procedures for diagnosis and various treatment options. The manual also emphasizes the importance of monitoring and evaluation to continuously assess the effectiveness of the approach used for case management. It provides a set of indicators for evaluation and additional annexes provide templates for surveillance data collection and reporting. |
