- Insecticidas y repelentes: evaluación de eficacia y estudio de resistencias.
- Ensayos de vacunas frente a leishmaniasis: desafío, infectividad. Caracterización molecular de la saliva de P. perniciosus y P. argentipes. Genómica, proteómica, marcadores de exposición a la picadura, factores de virulencia, vacunas.
- Cambio global y su impacto sobre la dispersión de la leishmaniasis: mapas de riesgo, modelos predictivos. - Vigilancia de dípteros exóticos importados: culícidos, Aedes albopictus, Aedes aegypti, Anopheles sp., aeropuertos y puertos.
- Xenodiagnóstico de Leishmaniasis y Enfermedad de Chagas. Detección molecular de Leishmania infantum en flebotomos.
- Identificación molecular del origen de la sangre ingerida por vectores.
Identificación de artrópodos de interés médico: vectores, ectoparásitos, endoparásitos, miasis, plagas. La Unidad forma parte del grupo colaborador de la OMS para Leishmaniasis, es miembro de la red europea VBORNET y es laboratorio integrante del Observatorio de Salud y Cambio Climático.
